The Wisconsin Rapid Aqua Skiers hosted the 2013 Wisconsin State Show Ski Championships the weekend of July 18th thru the 21st.
On Thursday, July 18th, during the State Individual Swivel Competition, Mad-City skier Leah Straub won the State Championship for Swivel.
Saturday in the early evening, the Mad-City Ski Team took to the water for the Division 1 team competition. In show skiing, each team has 20 minutes to set up their show, 60 minutes to perform their show and 10 minutes to clean everything up.
Highlights of our show were a 5 man back barefoot line, a double-top 4-high pyramid, a 24 girl ballet line, a tandem 4-high pulling a 3-high (first time ever in competition), a tandem 3-2 hot picking a 3-high (first time ever in competition), a 35 person combo ballet line (world record ballet line) and triple 4-high pyramids to end the show.
Overall, Mad-City took 2nd place at the tournament. The team was also recognized for having the highest scoring barefoot act with the 5-man back barefoot line and Mike Nowicki was recognized as the Outstanding Male Skier in Division 1.
