As you’ve heard, part of paying your dues each year is agreeing to work in the concession stand for at least one fall UW football game. Realizing that you’re picking a game to work months in advance, we’ve listed who’s working when in case you need to find someone to switch your shift with.
The W Club requires that football stand workers are 16 years old.
Here are some things you’ll need to know:
- Report time for the manager and one other person is 3 to 3 1/2 hours before the game.
- Volunteers need to report to the stadium 2-hours prior to kick-off. The W-Club closes the concession gate entrance when the main gates open (one and a half hours before kick-off) so unless you have a game ticket you can’t get in.
- Enter the stadium through Gate A on the south side of the stadium & east side of the Fieldhouse. Gate A is not really marked, so look for the Gate B sign & walk to the stadium from there. Sign in at the table for the Mad-City Ski Team – Concession stand R.
- You need to wear a white shirt – T-shirts with some printing (like Mad-City Ski Team) are fine, long sleeve white t-shirts or sweatshirts are fine. NO tank tops.
- You need to wear closed toe shoes. NO sandals or flip-flops.
- Depending on weather, you can wear long pants or shorts. Nothing too revealing.
- We’ll have the red Team Bucky hats at the stand. You MUST wear one of the red hats while in the stand.
- You’ll also need to wear one of the red aprons while in the stand.
- Stand workers can have ONE free hot dog, brat or pretzel while in the stand & as much pop as you want to drink. You’ll need to pay for candy or additional food items.
- Typically, the stand is closed with about 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter and is cleaned up so people can leave about the same time the game ends.
If there isn’t a time listed, it hasn’t been announced yet. The times are typically announced a couple weeks before the game due to TV scheduling and will be added to the schedule below as they become available. You can check the football schedule on UWBadgers.com to see if a time has been announced and not posted here yet.
Email Eric at eric@madcityskiteam to sign up for a game.
If you’re availability changes and you’re not able to work the game you committed for or are scheduled for, you’ll need to find a replacement to cover your shift.
