Mad-City Hosts Learn to Ski Clinic at the Clean Lakes Festival
There is no better way to enjoy the beauty and splendor of Lake Monona then learning to water ski. Fun, excitement and skiing were enjoyed by all during the Learn to Ski Clinic at the Clean Lakes Festival on August 18, 2012.
The clinic was designed to introduce new people to the sport of water skiing by giving them a safe and fun experience on the water. The clinic drew 22 skiers who enjoyed the fun and the sun of Lake Monona as they learned the joy and exhilaration of water skiing and was attended by adults and children a like from ages 8 to 56; including several foreign exchange students and families who enjoyed their first time on water skies.
The Learn to Ski Clinic was part of the Clean Lakes Festival which was started by the Mad-City Ski Team in 2007 to create awareness and raise money to the help combat the declining water quality of the area lakes. The growth of the festival lead to the creation of the Clean Lakes Alliance to raise awareness year round for the Madison lakes.
The festival, organized by both the Mad-City Ski Team and the Clean Lakes Alliance, featured many additional activities beyond just the Learn to Ski Clinic. The rest of the festival kicked of with a 2-Mile Liquid Courage Challenge (a 2-mile race featuring a variety of obstacles, many of which included a water feature), bands playing from noon to 9pm, a ski show at 6pm, kayak and stand up paddle board rentals, kids activities and the Crazy4Lakes Discovery Center.
