Mad-City in the News
This past week saw the Mad-City Ski Team in the newspaper two separate times.
On August 1st long time Mad-City member Jeff Taschwer and his family were featured in a Wisconsin State Journal article that chronicled their involvement with the ski team since 1983.

Then on August 7th Mad-City was featured in the 77 Square entertainment section that features a great photo gallery of pictures taken at our August 5th show.
Article => Seen: Mad-City Ski Team
Last year, with one of the GoPro camera’s from Jim’s Photos, Jeff Taschwer took to the sky behind one of the team’s boats and flew high above Lake Monona in his kite. Watch the video from last summer to get an entirely new view of the isthmus.

In the News
Watch our Show Director John Ager’s interview with NBC 15 Morning Show Weekend Live from June 20th.
Mad-City Ski Team Helps Take the “Dis” out of “Disability”
On Friday 8/14, Mad-City hosted a learn to ski day for members of the UCP of Dane County. For the team, it was a chance to share our enthusiasm for the sport with others, for the people learning to ski, it is an experience of a lifetime.
Channel 15, the local NBC affiliate, came by and produced a nice news story about the clinic which you can read about here. There is a video with the story as well… click on the link just below the headline.
Show Skiing… It’s a Sport for the Whole Family
There are many sports that a whole family can attend together, but there are not many sports that an entire family can compete in together. Show skiing is truely unique in this fashion and one of the local news channels, Channel 3 WISC-TV, did a story on one of the families involved with Mad-City. Follow the link below to view the story on their website.
A Summer Tradition
The Capital Times has a great article about the us currently posted on their website. Shawn Doherty, one of the papers reporters, came down this past Sunday and watched our show, interviewed some of the skiers and members of the crowd.
Here’s a short excerpt of the article:
The Mad-City Ski Team’s weekly shows at Law Park near Monona Terrace are a beloved family tradition, and Sunday brought crowd of close to 150 people sitting on bleachers, blankets, lawn chairs and the muddy rocks along Lake Monona.
Stephanie Engelhart-Olson has been coming to shows as long as she can remember, and now the Madison resident’s children and grandchildren come as well for picnics and fun. “This is our Madison,” she said. “It’s where we’re from, and it’s what we know!”
Dave Hesthaven was bringing his two boys to the show for the first time. “Hey, it’s Sunday at Madison,” he said. “It’s summer and it’s a low-stress thing to do with the kids — as long as there’s a Porta Potty.” (There were six.)

Mad-City on the News!
Recently, WISC Channel 3 TV here in Madison interviewed our Show Director, Chris Coupland, on their “Live at Five” program on July 24, 2007.
Even though he was called “Steve” it was great for our team to get some publicity, especially on such a popular show!!
